Legal Question in Civil Litigation in Illinois
Dog Chewed my Shoe Owner will not pay
A woman I nanny for decided to get a dog. I did not agree to take care of the dog before and was not part of the agreement. When I got to her house to watch the girls I told her I would charge her extra. The dog is not trained and in any sense of the word and needed extensive care. She also insisted its feet be wiped. She left for work and left the dog in my care. To me this was an agreement to pay more, otherwise she needed to take it with her. While she was gone and I was getting her girls ready for school the dog grabbed my shoe and put holes in it.
The woman refused to pay the extra $2 per hour to care for the dog nor will even acknowledge my shoe situation. I was only there for 1.5 hours that day. She owes me $35 of the shoes & $3 for the dog. I will not work for her anymore, obviously.
She is a legal secretary in Chicago and thinks she's above the law. She knows I can't afford to take her to court over this small amount, but she rips people off quite often. To give you an example, she got a free brick patio from Menard's due to her dishonesty.

Unfortunately she will get away with it unless you want to spend $500 to collect $35--an absurd decision if you decide that way.
Only suggestion is to move on and forget about it. What goes around comes around and one day she will get hers.
I hope this helps,
