Legal Question in Civil Litigation in Illinois

I was stuck in an elevator at our condo building. I did nothing, the elevator simply stopped and would not respond. I had to use the emergency phone inside, and a maintanance man came and let me out. Now the company is trying to bill our condo ass. $1,750 for that! We pay them $6,000 per year to maintain the elevator. Can they really charge to free a trapped person?

It depends on what your association's contract with the company says they can charge for.
