Legal Question in Civil Litigation in Illinois

fasly accused

I had a theft complaint filed on me 500 miles away on they somehow confused me with my brother and a warrent was executed on me.I was arrested for no reason.I have never been arrested before and it caused me to be very embarased.Can I sue the county that made the warrant or whoever filed charges against me?

You probably will not get very far with it. If you were not convicted of the offense, only taken into custody for it and then released, it will be considered part of the investigation. One generally needs a lot more to prevail in an action against the police.

How can you be in Illinois with an Illinois related question when you say you were 500 miles away? Illinois is not 500 miles wide or 500 miles long nor is it 500 miles diagonally from corner to corner.
