Legal Question in Civil Litigation in Illinois

Harassment

We have been harassed by a neighbor because we filed a zoning complaint against him having 13 domestic animals.Barking dogs.He started sending envelopes with legal looking papers out to us and our neighbors.Inside there had things saying we had sex in the back yard, my mother was a way wore mother,I was an alcoholic, had a mental illness with I took drugs for and on and on.These envelopes were sent to our neighbors FedEx with our return address as if we sent them. He also used the Circuit clerk and Illinois Attorney Generals Office as if they had sent them but did not.We have a detective and states attorney involved and the detective has 5 tapes from the FedEx office were this man sent the envelopes. He did not know about Kinkos having video tapes of each sale and kept it for a month.I have only told you a little of the harassment to us there is tons more. My question is why are we having so much trouble finding a lawyer to file a harassment case against this man? What does it take to file a harassment case? We signed two dog barking tickets against this man and he took it as far as being arrested and finnally paying $1250.00 for two $50 dollar ordnance violations. Crazy? We do have another appointment with lawyer number 5.Thanks

Re: Harassment

I amnot sure what other attorneys have told you, but this sort of things will cost you a lot of money. I know my office won't even look at a case like that without having at least a $10,000 retainer paid... You have to understand, the work the lawyer does has to be compensated. Assuming a lawsuit is filed and won, where do you suppose this disturbed neighbor of yours will have the money to pay a lawyer bill that probably end up to be close to $30,000? Are YOU ready to take on this sort of project?

I hope this helps,
