Legal Question in Civil Litigation in Illinois
If you hear a rumor about a guy that you work with, his girlfriend is pregnant and people are saying it isn't his, so you ask him if the baby is his and he says yes and asks why, so you tell him about the rumor he goes to the girlfriend and girlfriend goes to her dad and now her dad is threatening to file a suit of defamation of character, does he have a case?

no. it is hard to do but we should all avoid gossip. my wife, a wise woman, says that if you are not part of the problem or part of the solution then it is gossip. hope this helps.
