Legal Question in Civil Litigation in Illinois

More Highlander fiasco_Out-of-state small claim

Thanks to those who replied; my only other obstacle is that the company is based in Illinois, and I'm in California. Is it feasible to sue them in small claims court from so far away? Would I have to actually go there? Or, do I sue them in California and make them come to me?

I do not recall reading your original request, but your question cannot be answered with the limited information in this request.

If the amount is in the small claims court range you may want to sue in small claims court. Most small claims courts have some sort of assistance program to help you prepare your case. That program may be helpful. The major limitation to small claims court is that the plaintiff cannot appeal the courts judgment. If you are thrown out on the jurisdiction issue you would have no further remedies.

If the amount exceeds small claims court value then you should contact an attoney and discuss the matter with him or her.
