Legal Question in Civil Litigation in Illinois
My husband was contracted for repairs at a residental location and the owner of the property is now refusing to pay the balance owed. This contract was a verbal agreement and all repairs have been completed. What can I do to retain final payment?

You may want to use "Small Claims" Court.
You can pursue judgment of up to $10k in small claims.
Good Luck!

You may also have your husband tell the homeowner that if they don't pay, he will file a 'mechanic's lien' against the house. In Illinois, the statute is found at 770 ILCS 60/ and is commonly called 'The Mechanic's Lien Act'. This can usually be found on Google. Good luck.
