Legal Question in Civil Litigation in Illinois
My husband has recently passed away, and he was retired from the Air Force and before he passed away he called a divsion of the Air Force to ask them were did he need to change the beneficiary on his life insurance and they sent him the paperwork to change the beneficary, inwhich he filled out and returned back to the suggested department. Sadely my husband passed away and apparently the change of the beneficiary was never changed and now I recevied a letter from the Air Force stated that they received my husbands request for change and they apologized stated that there department is not the correct department to take care of that matter and they will forward it to the correct department - my question is my husband passed away and the x-wife which was on the papers as the beneficiary received the pay already, is there anything that I can do?

I agree with Sal. You also may be able to assert a trust on the funds in her hands.( I doubt it, but the possibility shold be looked into). However, you need to do so before the funds disappear. Hire counsel now!
