Legal Question in Civil Litigation in Illinois

I'm interested in looking at some legal documents from a civil court case in chicago that I understand are publicly available, but I don't know how to go about seeing them/getting a copy of them.

Are there restrictions on viewing/copying such documents? Is this something I could do myself? What information would I need? How much might it cost to get a lawyer there (I don't live in Chicago) to get the documentation?

Thanks.

You could do this yourself but it would require a trip (possibly several) to the courthouse. I can have my law clerk get them for you for $125/hour. If it is the downtown courthouse and the file is available on her first attempt it may not cost more than 1-2 hours. You have to check out the file, find the documents you want copied, and then copy them yourself.
