Legal Question in Civil Litigation in Illinois
Landlord/Tenant Dispute
After several conflicts with my two roommates (one of them is my landlord), I submitted a 30 day notice and noted there was a typo in the lease contract dated from august 19 2006 to august 19 2006, he demanded on the last day that I pay him additional money and then threatened to withhold any residual mail that came through. He refused to return my security deposit and then threatened to sue when I advised him to send me a copy of the bill that he demanded I paid. The indiviual demonstrated on more than one occasion of being extremely controlling and manipulative best described as covert aggressor. He filed a lawsuit four days later for damage to a backscreen door that I never did, theft of a tv remote that I attempted to return the next day, theft of a boombox that I never took. I have photos of my last day showing the damaged screen door with rolled screen that the landlord claimed he would replace but never did, a photo of the boombox I left behind, and documentation of returning the tv remote. I asked for my laptop hard case but he refused to exchange the hardcase with the remote. He then stated,''See you in court.'' Then slammed the door in my face.
