How long does a lawyer need to give a defendent notice to show up in court?

There is no hard and fast rule, but generally the rule is "reasonable notice." Notice from the night before has been considered reasonable in some contexts, 2 weeks notice has been considered unreasonable in others. It just depends on the circumstances.
