Legal Question in Civil Litigation in Illinois

Lighter corporation defense in a lawsuit.

How should i go about defending a lighter corporation in a lawsuit where a family is suing a them for a ''defective lighter'' which lit their mobile home on fire, which in turn killed their son and severely burned their daughter?

It is stated that the father left the lighter on the couch armrest, which is near where the children were sleeping on the sofabed, after having a cigarette and twirling the lighter in his hand.

My theory for this trial was that the parents were negligent in leaving the lighter where the children could reach it. Also that the children got the lighter while the parents were sleeping and were playing with it which caused the fire.

Does the defendant corporation have liability insurance? You really should have a lawyer for a suit this serious and insurance would appoint one for you.

It sounds to me that this is a school question. Please do not post school questions in this forum.
