Legal Question in Civil Litigation in Illinois

Money owed on a car.

I went through a divorce where the judge gave the car to her. We filed bankrupcy on bills including the car. We reaffirmed the loan so she could keep it. She took it back to the bank instead of giving it to me. She admitted that she did this just to screw me (I have a witness to this). I wanted to know if I could personally sue her for the money that was left on the loan because the judge gave it to her and told her she had to pay for it. She never made a payment on it. I am now stuck with this loan and nothing to show for it.

Re: Money owed on a car.

The divorce decree most likely says that she will hold you harmless for the expenses for the car. She is therefore still responsible for the payments. Anything that you are out of pocket regarding the car she must pay you back. I can help you take her back to court to have the judge order her to pay. Unforetunatley I must charge my hourly rate for this servie. I charge a minimum of $250 per hour for three hours. Please call me for a free consultation.
