Paying for a product I have not received

I paid a photographer to take pictures taken of me. I paid for the sitting fee and then 2 weeks later for the pictures that I wanted framed. However, he will not return any emails or calls as to when I can pick up my pictures. No contract was signed and he was paid in full (my mistake). The BBB was contacted this week. Do I have any other options other than getting a lawyer involved? If possible, I do not want the options to outweigh the money I have already spent on the pictures ($720).
