Legal Question in Civil Litigation in Illinois

Pro Se fee question

Yesterday i beat Citibank in a civil suit filed by them.

Can i bill them for time used to defend myself, mailings, time off of work etc?

Another words can i go after them for fee's?

Re: Pro Se fee question

Not unless there is some statute that gives the prevailing party the right to fees and costs in the kind of case Citibank brought. The general rule in the US legal system is that each party bears their own costs.

Generally the only costs you are entitle to are the costs of filing the lawsuit, cost of service of process and cost of summons. You may be entitled to fees IF, the nature of your complaint and the contract you had with Citibank allows for collection of attorney fees by the prevailing party. I would suggest you start there.

I hope this helps-
