Legal Question in Civil Litigation in Illinois
I am in the process of publishing a memoir. I wish to know the legalities. I am using our last name in the book, but have changed all the other characters (except deceased persons) and left the main characters original names, i.e., myself, husband, and children who are living with me. Would there be any legal reprecussions in doing so since these are true events that happened and is being told through my eyes.

This is not an issue that may be answered through this forum. You need to engage an attorney who will look at the book, perhaps even read it and see what are the implications. Generally, there are implications in revealing other person's private matter without their explicit consent.
Good luck-
