Legal Question in Civil Litigation in Illinois

Property damage by management co.

The front wall of my townhouse suffered serious damage as a result of the management company digging underneath the house to repair a water main break. I have sent them two letters notifying them of the situation, and I have received no response of any kind.

Since they have shown no effort to remedy the situation, should I enlist the aid of my insurance company to see that the repairs are made, and the management company is held liable for the bill? Do insurance companies do this?

Generally when an insurance company pays for damages, they will then turn around and see from whom they can get their money back. If they believe that someone other than you is responsible for paying for the damages, they will go after that individual/entity. All you will be expected to do is to cooperate with the insurance company in their effort to collect.

I hope this helps-

Yes, make a claim and see what happens.

If you know the name of the insurance company for the management company, you could notify them directly also.

Good luck.
