Legal Question in Civil Litigation in Illinois
I purchased a motorcycle from a dealer and paid with a bank certified check. The dealer was burgularized and the check amoung other things was taken. I was asked to help them by putting a stop on the check and getting another issued. That check they claim was never recieved. Now I was called and threatened with some litigation. I have the motorcycle, bill of sale and title to the vehicle.
What are my liabilities?

Why wouldn't you cooperate?
What Lind of litigation are u threatened with?
If you have the bill of sale and it shows you made a payment, then int opinion is that you owe the dealership no duty and that they should handle the matter with authorities and their insurance.
If you stopped the check successfully then you haven't paid for the purchase. You should reasonably cooperate to get them a replacement payment, less any charges incurred as a part of cooperating such as stop payment and replacement check.
