Legal Question in Civil Litigation in Illinois

i ran out of gas in my truck, a county officer brought me some gas , or i thought so anyway, come to find out it was diesel fuel mixed with gas , and so now my motor is junk , am i wrong to ask the county to help pay for a different engine in my truck

You are not wrong but the county enjoys what we call tort immunity which gives county officials including its officers immunity from negligent performance of their duty. Depending on your specific circumstance which should be reviewed by an attorney who can review all the facts and circumstance of your particular case, chances are any claim you make will be dismissed.
