Legal Question in Civil Litigation in Illinois
Any Recourse for Damages & Hospital Bills?
I was assualted by a bouncer at a bar, and suffered blunt head trama. The
assault was unprovoked, there are witnesses and a 911 call. The police do
not think that it was hold up in criminal court because of achohol being a
facter (it was a bar). I went to the ER, where at this point I don't have
permanant injury; however, I will have bills that won't be totally covered by
my insurance. I really want to cover my bills. I don't think I should be held
responsible for these bills when i did nothing wrong. The assualt came at
closing time, while I was waiting in the entrace for a female in our party to
leave the restroom. I informed the bouncer that I was waiting for her. With
this, he got ''in my face'' and was screaming obscenities, then the next thing I
knew I was picking myself up off the sidewalk. At no time did I strike or
physically touch this man. Another patron or employee also was hitting me.
If this cannot be persued on a criminal basis, do I have any recourse to at
least recover the bills not paid by my insurance? This just happend two days
ago. Thanks.

Re: Any Recourse for Damages & Hospital Bills?
You may have a claim against the bar and the bouncer to cover your damages and hospital bills. I would need more information to properly advise you.
