getting help removing name from title

I lived with someone, he cosigned for an auto for me after this he told me to quit myjob he would support me till I found one that would pay enough for the car pymts. We broke up I moved out he would not let me have the auto unless I paid him $8,000. He said this would be the money loss he would sustain in trying to resell the auto. I cannot finance another auto because my name is on the title for the other auto which I do not have access to at all. What can I do to get my name off this title?

Unfortunately, if you cannot negotiate a voluntary resolution to the dispute, a suit to clear title will be needed.
