Legal Question in Civil Litigation in Illinois

set date for trial call

What does it means when you have a set date for a trial call. I have court tommorow and would like to know does this mean there will be a trial and judgement the same day.

My case is that one of my previous landlords is suing after about 2 years on money regarding rent. I donot have the whole amount. I did have an attorney to represent me 2 years ago, and he stated that they just wanted me out and would not sue in the future.

Is there a way to continue this matter without me having legal representation. I couldnot afford an attorney for my case for tommorow's trial.

Can you respond as soon as you can. thank you in advance for your assistance

Re: set date for trial call

Even though a matter is set for trial, doesn"t mean there will be a trial. Odds are that the attorney for the landlord is going to attempt to work out a payment arrangement. Its possible that a judge could grant you a continuance to find an attorney, but he is not required to.
