Legal Question in Civil Litigation in Illinois
I am a student at the U of I I was accepted to an internship 4 weeks ago The internship was supposed to start 4 weeks ago but I still havent started it The internship cancelled multiple meetings on me, costing me great amounts of my time and over 110 dollars of gas money and staying at an inn I was wondering if I am eligible to sue? They are not willing to do anything about it

If you have proof of acceptance then you may have a case for damages if you can prove a lost opportunity or some out of pocket. But the real issue is what's your goal? If you sue you can probably be assured that if something comes up down the line, they'll flag you. I might suggest you talk to whoever is the head of the internship program and find out how they might be able to make it up to you through another internship or any kind of work in your field. If that doesn't work go up the ladder - department chair, something. Don't give up when the real goal is experience in your chosen field!!! A couple hundred dollars may be a heck of a lot to you right now, but suing over it may burn bridges that could really hurt you much more later. I would suggest trying to make lemonade out of this first.
