getting stuff off your background check

how do I go about getting stuff off my back ground check that happened when I was 19 or 20 years old. Because I am now 52 and it is still there

Depends on the "stuff" on there. Certain criminal matters can be expunged, you know. Any lawyer can help you do this, particularly those that practice criminal defense. Check your phone book.
