being sued over a boat ive owned for over 3 and 1/2 years

my ex wife and i purchased a boat from her grandfather. we recieved it in 2000 and the title was put into my name in 2003. i divorced in 2005 and have since remarried and her grandfather now says i owe him the money for the boat even though it was not even mentionee as debt in the divorce and was awarded to me. does he have a case?

Hello. In my opinion grandpa does not

have a case. The title is in your

name and I believe it is now too late

for him to explain that away. He may

file a lawsuit, but it will be frivolous and he will subject himself to being assessed attorneys fees and costs for filing a groundless lawsuit.

Also, as you mentioned, the Judgment

of Dissolution of Marriage awards the

boat to you so you have double coverage. It sounds like grandpa has

a grudge over how the divorce went. The moral of the story is "keep your

oars to yourself if you want to keep

your boat in your own pond!" In other

words, don't sell your boat if you

figure you will want it later. I will
