Legal Question in Civil Litigation in Illinois
Vandalizing
About a month ago we had an incident where 2 high school girls came into our home and vandalized my daughters bedroom. We were not at home and they came in with no invitation. They spread crisco all over her things ruining her bedding and some clothing. They also very neatly put douches all over the room. Charges were not pressed as my husband is friends with their dads and wanted to work out punishment for the girls with them. Punishment for one girl was a new vehicle and I don't see that they have been properly punished. This is all over a boy that my daughter dated that use to date one of the girls. High school drama that has completely gotten out of hand. This feud between them has been going on for some time and the girl will not stop making nasty comments about my daughter, calling her and the boy, and just running her mouth. She then turns around and denies having anything to do with things. I think she deserves punishment but would like to know what punishment she will get if charges are pressed. Can we press charges against one girl with pressing them against the other one. This has gone on long enough, she hasn't learned her lesson and I want it stopped. Any advise would be great.

Re: Vandalizing
If you are serious about stopping these antics, then hire a lawyer and get a restraining order against the girl, then sue her family for the damages to your home. If, on the other hand, you are interested in only PUNISHING the girl, then contact your local police and explain the incidents to them. The state will take over from there and you won't have to do anything.
Understand that either way, there will be repercussions for your daughter, as high school kids will not be particularly sympathetic. Good luck.
