Legal Question in Civil Litigation in Illinois

About a year ago I was accused of asking an underage girl to be in an "adult" video. I was charged with a Class C Misdemeanor for Disorderly conduct in this matter. I was never convicted and am still awaiting trial. However a former employer of mine has started to send emails to his clients as well as random people sending them all to an article that covers me being "charged" a year ago. Pretty much trying to slander my name as much as possible. Is there any legal way I can stop him or sue him for doing this?

Thanks

The only defense to a defamation action is truth. Generally, it is not slander if the information that is being sent out contains only the truth and nothing more. If there are aspects of the information that is not true, then you may have a cause of action.
