deeming someone incompetent
Are there any legal rights for family members to deem someone incompetent in order to receive treatment for life threating heroin addiction?

You will need a recognized physician's/psychiarist's assistance to find someone incompetent and then file in court to adjudicate such a finding. It is difficult, however, when it comes to those afflicted with drug addiction which is treated differently from those with a mental health condition.
