Legal Question in Health Care Law in Illinois
joint bank account
My Mother and I have a joint account, she just went into a nursing home, is 1/2 the money mine, or will the state take it for her care?

Re: joint bank account
Hello and Happy New Year. The proceeds of the account belong to you and your mother. In my opinion the only thing that the care facility can do is place a lien on the account. You may want to ask the care facility directly about what its policy is in
this type of situation. Will be happy to discuss this with you further and in more detail.
