Legal Question in Health Care Law in Illinois

mental illness

my mom is the legal caretaker of my47yr. old brother. he was seen and diag. by a home psychiatric in '86. this doc. was told by my mom that my bro. sysmptons began about 4or5 yrs be-fore, I was there on one of the 3 home visits and I said I noticed his change in behavior during his 8th gr. grad., well the doctor wrote what my mom said and can't rember. if he wrote what I said the law that says if your illness happened before 22yrs. of age is our problem. My brother can get xamt of funds if his record clearly states what actually happened. we don;t know which way to turn, he has no dr. now and the doctor who first diag. him is willing to help but can't change med. records. what can be done?

Re: mental illness

Hello. I suggests that you and your

mom apply for financial assistance on behalf of your brother. If he is denied, there is probably an appeal process and the doctor may be willing to accompany you to this hearing. I suggests that you also open a disabled

person's estate on behalf of your brother, if you have not already done so. I will be happy to discuss this

matter with you further and in more detail.
