Legal Question in Immigration Law in Illinois
US Citizenship denied due to 6 months supervision
Hello, my citizenship application was denied during my interview on 2/25/04. The reason was I was placed under a period of six months supervision after a misdemeanor retail theft in May 2000. I marked YES to the question ''have you ever been arrested....'' in the application form and enclosed related court paper to the package.
Questions: is supervision a conviction? Do I have a chance on appeal?
Thanks!

Supervision is not a conviction - you should get the case expunged so that it goes off your record anyway. Chances on appeal depend on the person who hears your appeal!
