Legal Question in Immigration Law in Illinois

Hello one of my freinds H1-B visa expired July2010. Can she change her status from H1-b to F1 at this point? If it is not possible how soon should she leave US? It is already 5 days passed. Even she wants to leave US it will take 20 days. She has 5 yrs US born kid & She is separated from her husband. Any advice ?

Hello:

Unfortunately, this person cannot change or adjust her status in the U.S. Was there any abuse by the spouse? Was the spouse a Permanent Resident or U.s. Citizen?
