Legal Question in Immigration Law in Illinois
So my best friend which i've known for 6+ years wants us to get married so i can get papers. Now i don't know if this is legal, there is good intention and we have unconditional love for each other. I'd like to hear a lawyers opinions and thoughts and would this even work. (I have applied for the deferred action and i have my work permit and everything that comes with it.)

If the purpose of the marriage is to obtain citizenship, that is called a "sham" (fake) marriage and citizenship will be denied. "Purpose" is a funny word: it can include the purpose of obtaining citizenship regardless of mixed intentions and/or emotions. The marriage can be investigated. If you don't want to jeopardize your current immigration status, and you are serious about marrying for the "customary" reasons, you and your "beloved" should sit with an immigration attorney, explain everything, and go from there.
