What is the age requirement to legalize an immigrant when married? For example someplaces I've heard as long as we're legally married age has no barrier but other people say that someone must be 18 some people say 21. please help!!!

We recently did a case for a foreign national who was married to a USC and they were both 18 years of age. The case was STOKES interviewed. They were consistent in their responses and the Officer felt that they had a bona fide marriage. The green card can in a week or two.

There is no particular "age," because it depends on state laws. Some states allow people as young as 16 to marry with parental consent. On the other hand, the younger you are, the more likely you will have to prove that your marriage is really solid. Presuming you marry a U.S. citizen, you must prove that your marriage is real and not merely for the purpose of obtaining a green card. Age is not the issue -- maturity is! Get a good lawyer to explain and possibly help.
