Legal Question in Immigration Law in Illinois
Got married to American citizen. He abused alcohol and did drugs while we were married. Was threatening me with a gun. Stole money from my account after the separation. I didn't report on him anywhere because of his kids. But he mad me withdraw from the school saying he ll apply for me for a green card and instead of that just used my personal information to open up new credit cards. I never reported him to a police because of his kids. Is there a way for me to still get a green card based on it, since he is the reason i stayed illegal on this country? Please help. If not how much is the divorce and how quick can i divorce him if obviously we have nothing to divide. Thank you for your help!

There is a visa available to abused spouses of US citizens. For a consultation, please contact my office at 904-576-2581 or email me at [email protected].
Yes based on your facts you seem to be eligible for a VAWA petition (violence against women act). This allows you to self petition for your green card, in other words your husband does not need to petition for you.
Feel free to contact my office for a consultation.
