Legal Question in Immigration Law in Illinois
marrying a foreigner
hi, i'm looking to marry a girl from china, i was going marry her there then bring her to the U.S, i'm looking for the easiest, least expensive and shortest time we have to wait, to get her here. if i were to marry her there would it be more complicated to bring her here to the U.S? would it be better to bring and marry her here? one more thing, do i have to get a lawyer to get her here? would it be better if i did?
thank you for your time

Re: marrying a foreigner
If you know this young lady pretty well, and can document your relationship, you may try a fiance visa that would allow her entry to the U.S. if you both intend to marry -- after she arrives you have 90 days in which to marry, or she has to go back. Of course, you should have a lawyer -- everything you do with immigration procedures is legal stuff -- don't trust yourself to know what you are doing. Do it right the first time and get it done. Good luck!
Re: marrying a foreigner
You may apply for her K-1 fiancee visa now (if you've already met her in person within the last 2 years).
Once she's in the U.S., you may go ahead and marry her, then apply for her green card.
