Legal Question in Immigration Law in Illinois
Pardons
I am in deportation proceding for a conviction (theft) in 1986. I entered the usa legally and married a us citizen for 9 years now and have a newborn. I was told that,if i obtain a pardon from the governor it will help my situation, since the conviction be wiped. Is this correct?

Re: Pardons
Yes. An unconditional pardon from the governor will wipe out the conviction for deportation purposes.
