Legal Question in Immigration Law in Illinois

Wife has a Resisdent Green Card from a previous marriage. She has since divorced, we met married had a few kids. She applied for US citizenship and got denied based on the previous marriage. I guess he has a been married a few times and something in the paperwork he submitted was questionable.

In the document recieved from Immigration it states that her citizenship was denied based on that and that she shouldn't have been given a green card. So where does that leave my wife, my 2 kids and myself? Is it possible to just apply for another resident green card and remove her previous spouse?
