Legal Question in Insurance Law in Illinois
Are deer hits deductable?
I recently had a deer run into my car and cause extensive damage. The police officer on the scene told me that in Illinois deer accidents are not applied to the deductable on auto insurance. My insurance agent says the deductable applys, because a deer hit falls under the comprehensive coverage on the car. Who is correct? Is this considered a deductable or non-deductable accident? Thank You.

Re: Are deer hits deductable?
The answer depends on the wording of your insurance policy. So a general answer is not applicable. But I will proffer a gut reaction that based on most policies the deductible unfortunately would apply.
