Legal Question in Insurance Law in Illinois
Health Insurance policy coverage stated "through" 9/17/2013. Purchased an extension starting 9/18/2013. Had an emergency visit on 9/17. Insurance refused to pay stating policy expired at 12:01 am on the 17th. nothing provided in writing as to the time of expiration. Should they be liable for my hospital charges?

Impossible to say with this information. Would need to see the policy and declarations page. Would also need to see the "extension". Insurance usually is not "extended" but a new term is purchased. But the expiry and start should be identical so there is no "gap. One or the other policy as such SHOULD cover unless there is some gap.
