Legal Question in Insurance Law in Illinois
home owners insurance denied claim
My water heater pipe busted when I wasn't home. I come home 24 hours later and my house is like a rainforest. Water dripping from the ceilings, down the walls and mold growing on them. My kitchen walls are mold covered. Insurance took a week before they even sent someone to come look at the damage (which the mold was worse by then). He said insurance probably wouldn't pay because of the mold damage. They called me 3 weeks later and told me my claim is denied. I have yet to receive the report stating why. Although, I did get a new policy paper and it states description of loss as: water damage inside-no sprink. Is there anything I can do about this? My house is basically becoming a total loss and I can't live there... I don't know where to turn..
