Legal Question in Insurance Law in Illinois

improper lane usage

My daughter was given a citation for improper lane usage when she hit a patch of snow/ice and crossed over a lane of traffic. Another car approaching her tried to stop but was unable to since she also slipped. Why was my daughter given the citation when the other driver also crossed over a lane? The other driver would have been able to go around my daughter to the right but lost control of her car.

Re: improper lane usage

To focus on the important issue presented, your daughter should hire an attorney to either defend the ticket or negotiate a plea bargain with the state's attorney so as to avoid taking a conviction. We are all under a duty to control our vehicle, whether there is ice on the road or not, and the fact that another driver also slid does not help your daughter. Please consult with an attorney.
