Legal Question in Insurance Law in Illinois

I was involved in a vehicle accident a few months back. The insurance company of the party involved assumed 100% liability. After the submission of all medical bills the company offered, in addition to all medical claims being paid, a "settlement" amount of $1,000. The hospital and doctor bills total a little over $3,000. My car was a total loss, and my insurance company waived my deductible, even after the full value of my car was paid ($5,500) I was still left with a balance owed on my vehicle of about $2,200. I understand that in Missouri the law is that you may be entitled to compensation equal to the medical claims. However, I am not sure if this is the law in Illinois, specifically cook county.
