Legal Question in Insurance Law in Illinois
Wrecked not my fault and just found out my insurance lapsed
I was in a car accident that was not my fault (and have a police report to verify) and I just found out my insurace lapsed. My husband thought I was paying and I had specifically asked him to be reponsible. Am I now liable, even though she was at fault? Will her insurance company still fix my car?

If the accident was not your fault you should not be penalized and your car should be repaired by the negligent party.
Make sure you do not ignore any letters from the Secretary of State and order the "narrative" Illinois Traffic Crash Report to bolster your position. The narrative Crash Report is ordered by mailing a check and a written request for the report, as per the instructions at the top right of the Illinois "Motorist" Report you were given by the police (you need to fill-out that Motorist report on reverse and return to the Illinois Department of Transportation).
Need anything else let me know.
