Legal Question in Intellectual Property in Illinois
Content from web fourm moved to another
Hello, I was a member or an internet forum that was purchased by another. I was subsequently banned prior to the move to the new forum due to speaking out on the purchase. The new forum states that it owns all content posted on the site, and all of the photos and posts from the old site have been moved.
I never agreed to the user agreement, and I would never want my photos to be own by someone else. My question is, if I ask, do they need to remove them?

Re: Content from web fourm moved to another
What do you mean by "I never agreed to the user agreement"? If you contributed material to the forum under clearly stated terms and conditions, you may have, in fact, "agreed to the user agreement." Your statement implies a legal conclusion that may or may not be true. That is really the issue that needs to be answered.
If you are bound by the agreement, then you gave up your rights when you voluntarily posted the material. If you are not bound by the agreement, then as owner of the copyright, you have the right to insist that the material be removed from the website.
