Legal Question in Intellectual Property in Illinois

Copyright violation or not?

Would I be breaking the copyright law? If I saved an

entire webpage, or entire webpages of a website; that teaches you a job skill? Like for example game programming, or just programming in general, or something else?

On to my disk, cd, or my computer for my own personal non commercial use? What if I saved an entire website that teaches you a job skill? On to my disk, cd, or my computer for my own personal non commercial use; would I be violating the copyright law or not?

Re: Copyright violation or not?

Probably not, depending on what personal non-commercial use you make of the information, and provided you don't send it on to someone else in any form. I am suspicious of the carefully worded phrasing of your question, which makes me wonder if you are really engaged in just educational fair use or not.

As a practical matter few website owners go after anyone downloading their pages unless the pages are reposted without proper credit or reposted in some way that damages the value of the original or sold somewhere without posting.

Put yourself in the position of the web page owner and think whether you would object, and you will generally know what the right thing to do is.
