Legal Question in Intellectual Property in Illinois

i have a new invention i submitted to one of those invention submission companies. i noticed in their contract they would not do anything to protect the idea, so i made an appointment with a patent attorney. I am also trying to get funding to pay for the patent so i have been talking to a company who will help me file for grants to pay for the patent, and grants for starting up a small business. I have not yet disclosed the product to this other company. i checked them out with the BBB and they have a B- rating with 27 complaints mostly relating to billing issues. they have been in business for 9 years and has setteled all the complaints against them. In your opinion should i disclose my product so they can help me write a small business plan and get funding for the patent?

As a Franchise Attorney I advise not disclosing anything without a well-worded Nondisclosure Agreement. As you've stated making an appointment with a patent attorney, they should be able to guide you appropriately. Consult with a good business or franchise attorney in your area for specific advice.
