Legal Question in Intellectual Property in Illinois
help with major corporation
Hello, my name is--name removed-- I am looking for help from a lawyer. I have an idea I would like to present to a major cooporation, but I do not want them to take my idea and use it without getting any compensation for it. I am not sure how to go about protecting my idea. Any advice would help on what I should do. Thanks!

I am an Illinois patent lawyer and Treasurer of the Illinois Innovators & Inventors Club. If you are located close to Edwardsville (which is 20 miles NNE of St. Louis) go to http://ilinventor.com to find meeting dates and attend a meeting. Another useful site is www.patentcafe.com which will provide a wealth of information. Also, Patent Office website, www.uspto.gov has useful information. You would be well advised to spend the money to consult with a registered patent attorney who has some corporate experience to know how submissions work. I can certainly assist you for a fee, and there are many other capable patent attorneys depending on your location. If you need more specific advice, I would need more specific factual information from you.
