Legal Question in Intellectual Property in Illinois

I started a new photography business and some of my clients have alerted me to an issue with getting photos printed. I give them a cd containing their photos and places like Walgreens will not print them because they are professional photos. What do I need to provide to the client so they have documentation giving them permission to get the photos printed?

Depending on the relationship you have with the particular client and the other circumstances present, you can (i) give the client a document which gives them permission to make prints of the photos, or (ii) assign the ownership/copyright rights in and to the photos to the client and they can do whatever they want.

The other attorney is right on point here. Probably the easiest solution, where you don't give up any rights, is a letter on your stationery giving the client permission to makes prints. Consult with an attorney in your area for specifics if you have questions.
