Legal Question in International Law in Illinois

Re-entering US - outstanding bench warrants

I have a few (3?) outstanding bench warrants from 2 states I no longer live in - just traffic tickets, and then bench warrants for not showing up to court.

I came up to Canada about 5 months ago, and am now planning to re-enter the US (US Citizen). Will these state warrants show up when I re-enter, and will I get detained? As far as I understand, they are only valid in the state in which they were issued (which isn't the state into which I am entering). Will I get arrested at the border if these show up?

Re: Re-entering US - outstanding bench warrants

Quite possibly, but I suggest that you consult with an immigration attorney (best source is the Association of Immigration Law Attorneys "AILA") for advice on your particular situation.

Best wishes,
